Project description:
This residential project was born out of two sisters’ desire to create a warm, timeless shared living space that would allow them to live together while respecting their distinct personalities. Nestled in the heart of the forest, the residence was designed as a light-filled retreat where comfort, functionality, and a connection to nature come together harmoniously.
The project’s architecture draws inspiration from contemporary chalet aesthetics, highlighting a palette of natural materials such as wood and stone. The stone fireplace becomes a central element of the living space, reinforcing the home’s warm and inviting atmosphere. Despite its compact footprint, each area has been carefully optimized to accommodate all essential daily needs without compromising the sense of openness.
The heart of the project is a bright living area dominated by a cathedral ceiling, maximizing natural light and emphasizing the connection between the interior and the forest landscape. Large windows frame the surrounding nature and help create a calm and soothing atmosphere.
The layout includes two bedrooms, a study, two bathrooms, and a multifunctional mudroom that incorporates the laundry room, designed to meet the practical needs of country living. The kitchen, with its white tones and light-colored cabinets, features a clean, bright aesthetic. A small, hidden pantry completes the space while preserving the visual simplicity of the concept.
The project also incorporates several elements of deep emotional significance, including a buffet and a rocking chair passed down through the family, both carefully integrated into the interior design. These pieces enrich the project with a personal and timeless dimension, creating a dialogue between family heritage and contemporary architecture.
The residence thus seeks to express the balance between two lifestyles and two personalities through a coherent and soothing architectural language. This sanctuary becomes a place of sharing where the warmth of the materials, natural light, and family memories coexist in a gentle and authentic atmosphere.
